Rotterdam, June 2025 – On International Albinism Awareness Day 2025, voices from across the globe come together to emphasize the critical need for skin protection and greater awareness of albinism. This year’s theme is “Demanding our rights: Protecting our skin, Preserving our lives.”
To mark the occasion, the Open Eyes Foundation has produced a short video featuring young people with albinism from different countries sharing their personal experiences. Jorge from Mexico, Lei Xiao from China, Andreza from Brazil, Lina and Adam from the USA, and Marnix from the Netherlands open up about the daily challenges they face. Their stories provide valuable insight into the realities of living with albinism and highlight the importance of sun protection and respecting their rights.
Listening to their voices helps us better understand the hurdles people with albinism encounter and reinforces the urgent need for awareness and support. We thank Jorge, Lei Xiao, Andreza, Lina, Marnix, and Adam for their courage and for contributing to this vital message.
