Celebration of Diversity Day at the Albeda college
The event was celebrated with students, teachers, management, facility staff, etc.
Gyzlene Kramer – Zeroual, programme director interviewed Xueli Abbing who was impressed with the atmosphere and unity in diversity within Albeda. The director HRM endorsed the importance of organising an event like Diversity Day. She presented research results and explained what the school does to improve diversity and inclusivity, for instance when recruiting new staff. Xueli was also asked for advice on how to guide blind and visually impaired clients in her future work.
Xueli was invited to speak at the second edition of the Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination: The Road towards a Rights-based Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic. This edition provided the basis to take stock on where we are in the fight against racism. It also provided a platform to relevant actors in the public, private and civil society arena that are championing effective strategies against racism and discrimination.
